The Eco Collective is a small and select group of Australian textile designers, who share a common vision: designing and printing with eco integrity – hand printing with lead and chemical-free inks, on sustainable hemps and organic cottons.

With the growth of eco awareness, comes the responsibility of eco design – Philippa Wilkinson, Karen Brock and Sophie Seeger, members of the Design Institute of Australia, share the concept of designing with integrity; designing with eco intent; and working with like-minded design professionals on projects that inspire and connect with sustainability.

Aligned with the Hemp Gallery, the experts in sustainable hemp products; The Eco Collective will produce inspiring ranges that work across all soft-furnishings – from themed designs; Australian botanicals, to Indigenous-inspired abstracts; the artworks of the three designers will interact and interplay in composition and colour – offering interior designers and architects a beautiful and inspiring comprehensive range to work with; from one-off pieces, to holistic design in eco development projects.

The benefits of The Eco Collective’s textiles are far-reaching – designing with eco intent, for a sustainable future...

Who are we?

Philippa Wilkinson – Philippa is the designer behind the established textile design company “Pip Willy”; and has been immersed in commercial textile design for over 10 years. Philippa is a COFA graduate; and it is her Fine Arts background; her keen eye for detail; her sensitivity in line work; and her printing expertise, that has been the driving factor in her textile work: “It is very important to me to retain the hand-drawn spontaneous design approach – to set one apart from solely computer-generated commercial textile.

Karen Brock – Karen is passionate about natural fibres and hand-woven textiles – not only for their sustainability, but also for their beautiful aesthetic. She marries sustainability and design in her soft-furnishings E-commerce business, Eco Inspired. Karen’s designs balance simplicity and sophistication; with her inspiration deriving from the natural environment. Karen recently designed a range of sustainable soft furnishings for Energy Australia’s Smart Home Project at Newington.

Sophie Seeger – Sophie is the principle designer behind the creative company, Seeger By Design. She is an artist and interior designer in her own right; and brings her artist’s sensibility and sensitivity to each project. Sophie has strong links to the art world, having run a commercial gallery. Being a conceptual designer, Sophie enjoys the challenge of identifying and developing commercial opportunities for artists: most notable to date is her conceived Indigenous rug range: Julu Wajaar.
